Emergency Repairs to Sand Dunes

Scope
As prime contractor on this project, Frazier Engineering furnished all supervision, labor, transportation, facilities, materials, tools, disposal, coordination of subcontractors, documentation, and equipment to perform the work required in KSC specifications for the Emergency Repairs of sand dunes.

Implementation
The project required major earthwork and planting of unique native vegetation specific to the harsh beach environment – about 90,000 cubic yards of fill was brought in for the restoration work and approximately 160,000 plantings were installed. Restoration of the sand dunes that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy was completed. Relocation of gopher tortoises and beach mice was performed prior to start of dune restoration. Watering and fertilization of the plantings was required throughout the duration of the work to maintain the stability of the dune banks.
